I was going to talk about vintage coats this morning but I am completely sidetracked by the home invasion I woke up to at 5:00 am...you came into my home with your beady little eyes and creepy legs and took over my kitchen. Curse you- you evil ant!
As you probably know what I hate most about the summer is the heat! We are expecting triple digit temperatures this weekend. Brian is lucky he is going to Washington...I will be holed up in the house until the heatwave passes. Due to my obsession with the weather and counting down the days until fall (68 days, which sounds like a lifetime) I completely forgot about what else summer brings. The dreaded ant. I hate ants. With a passion. I think death on an ant hill would be the worst way to go.
They make me crazy. So when I got up to feed Tygrr and found them all over the kitchen I just about lost it- in anger. How dare they come into my home. Aargh. We have a pest control guy just for this reason, well, that and the black widows. But I digress.
So what to do. I don't have Raid. We can't spray it because of the animals and it's the kitchen so I'm certainly not about to spray that around our food. I immediately went to Pinterest and found out you can use Borax and baking soda in a spray bottle. Borax? I was pretty sure that was some kind of laundry detergent- is that popular in the south- but I certainly didn't have any. We use laundry pods, doesn't everyone?
So on to plan B. Dish soap and water in a spray bottle. I have dish soap. What I didn't have was a spray bottle. Tore the house apart but couldn't find one. Out of the corner of my eye I could see them mocking me. Getting bolder.
I grabbed the only thing I could thing of to spray in the kitchen...409. That worked. Now my kitchen is covered with carcasses. It smells clean though. I think I will wait until Brian wakes up and have him remove the bodies. Ick.
So now that I am completely discombobulated over their little vacation into my home....how dare they, I kind of feel like this.
I hope everyone's morning is a little bit more boring than mine. If they come back I will be ready. Sending Brian out to buy Borax and a spray bottle today- it's too hot, I'm staying inside!
