There's another thing that's on the list of "Things I Never Thought Would Happen To Me" which is that we would actually create a product that would be sold live on air at HSN- the Home Shopping Network. Brian is in Tampa, FL right now. He had an air time at 6:00am this morning and another one this afternoon at 2:00. I didn't go this time but I have been there before. It's scary and exciting all at the same time. HSN is a class act organization. From our buyer to the receptionist everyone is awesome to work with. Once you arrive you set up your presentation table that they will wheel onto the set when you are ready to go on.
Then you go into the "green room" to wait. You get snacks and they have a fancy coffee maker. It would be relaxing except for the giant television screens that show whats on air and how everything is selling. This is where the nerves come in. You have to sell. Sometimes things are out of your control- like your air time, compatibility with the host, or just the stress of doing a live demo on t.v. No pressure, right? We originally launched the product with HSN. Nothing like putting yourself out on live t.v. to see if you have a product that people will even buy, lol.
They come get you for make-up and hair touch-ups and get your mic on a few minutes before you go out to wait. I think this is the worst part. Waiting in the wings to go on. I've seen people doing jumping jacks and running in place to get the nervousness out.
And then it's time!
Once you are on you have anywhere from five to nine minutes to sell, sell, sell. It sounds like a long time but it goes by fast!
The first thing that sold out were the refill kits. For people that have already purchased a tool, it's a great time to buy their refills at the awesome HSN Birthday Celebration price!
There is nothing more exciting then when you hear them play the "sold out" chime!
While Brian is on air, I am usually in the green room watching the numbers. And yelling at the screen things I want him to say! When I am home I have to rely on what the host is saying and wait for Brian's phone call after he talks to the producer which makes me a bit crazy.
So today about an hour after our presentation, once people started waking up, we sold out of the Round 25 Kit. Woo hoo!
Now we have the Shape Studio Tool Square Kit that will air at 2:00 EST. As usual, I am a bundle of nerves waiting and hoping it does as well as the Round Kit!
We appreciate everyone who supports us and our small business. We couldn't do it without the support of our family, friends, and customers who choose to spend their hard earned money with us. So everyone keep your fingers crossed for the 2:00 airing!
