notice I said a little bit. I started Project Life a week ago...now stop laughing, I know I'm a little bit late. For those of you who aren't scrapbookers Project Life is a way to document your life and day to day moments. It's a simpler form of scrapbooking (so they say) where you insert pre-printed cards and your photos into page protectors that are sized to fit. No glue, no scissors, just choose your photos and cards and slide them in. But...I don't find this approach simpler at all. I guess if you just used the plain cards it might be...but everyone has to dress them up a little. And keeping up a weekly schedule is a bit daunting for sure. I do not proclaim to be good at scrapbooking. I'm more of a get it done and let the pieces fall where they may kind of scrapbooker. I don't cut straight, I don't spend a lot of time, and if I can't throw a page together in twenty minutes I just give up. I'm not an "artist" just someone who likes to play with paper and glue.
That being said, I do like the weekly aspect of Project Life. Recording what we think is mundane. What we did, where we went, what we ate. Not that I think I want to look back and reminisce over the hamburger I ate at Coco's, but I think someday when we are all on the soylent green, a future generation will look at my photos and say "that's a hamburger?" I often wonder what my grandmother's day to day life was like. What did she do all day? What did her and my grandfather do? I think fifty to seventy years from now life will look a lot different then it does now. I hope Davis' grandchildren can look at our albums and see what life was like. They will probably reminisce about a simpler time in 2013...just like I do when I think of my grandmother in 1950.
So I finished a few pages. Here is the cover.
And yes, my writing is similar to a serial killer leaving a ransom note but you HAVE to write in your albums no matter what your handwriting looks like.
Week One.
Here they are side by side.
Week Two Right and Left Sides.
And together.
I did find a good use for one of my vintage tins I bought at the estate sale. The recipe size boxes are perfect for holding your Project Life cards. I just use index cards as dividers so it makes them easy to flip through.
So two weeks down...fifty to go! I can do it! Brian left for HSN this morning. He will be on air tomorrow at 6:00am and 2:00pm Eastern Time. I think to calm my nerves I am going to clean the house today- scrub the floors, the bathrooms, etc.- anything to get rid of this nervous energy.
I hope everyone has a great day today!
